About Safe Haven for Donkeys

The charity treats donkeys and animals and has saved donkeys in the Middle East for almost 19 years!

We set ourselves a clear goal: to save, to care for and to help every animal.
Among other things, the charity also treats horses and other animals who require medical treatment on a daily basis.

The charity was established in 2000 to help thousands of donkeys living in Israel and the Palestinian territories.

Today, our shelter in Israel provides life-long treatment for more than 200 unwanted and exploited donkeys of all ages, and charity work does not stop at the gates of the shelter:
Every month, our mobile clinic helps 500 working donkeys, mules and horses throughout Israel and the Palestinian Territories and we treat dozens of animals a day.

Common injuries such as those caused by the use of cheap labor equipment, oversized hooves and bad teeth, can be easily treated and provide a significant improvement in the lives of animals that work so hard for so little.

Counseling and education the owners and their children are central parts of the organization’s work.

Through our dedication and gentle attitude, our team has many members who treat it with trust and respect.

Please help us continue our work, which is essential to care for the safe haven residents and to reach out to those donkeys pulling carts carrying heavy or abandoned baggage when they are too old or injured to work.

Our Vision

Our vision is to promote the importance of basic welfare of donkeys and, where possible, teach compassion in order to achieve long-term beneficial changes. To achieve shelter and protection, providing a rescue center where we can treat abandoned donkeys and those requiring special attention. To ensure that any animal found abandoned on roads will be safely transported to the rescue center, where they can live without the burden of labor, tension and suffering until they can be rehabilitated. To eradicate all male donkeys in our care wherever possible and to promote the importance of this practice.

To allow a dignified end to severe and debilitating cases in which the animal is considered by a qualified veterinarian to have a negligible chance of a healthy life with an adequate quality of life.

To keep updated documentation of each animal in our care. Working with other welfare organizations and supporters ,to combine mutual efforts and end the suffering and cruelty to animals, ensure that all sides know about our progress. By free Vascular Centers spread throughout Israel and the West Bank, We are helping and changing the lives of very many animals suffering every year, but we need your help to continue our sacred work.
